True Love

Graphite and gold acrylic paint on 185gsm Arches watercolour paper. 42cm x 59.4cm (A2)

This was around the time I started to feel like aiming for hyper-realism was an empty pursuit.. for me, anyway. I personally think the most interesting part of this drawing are her missing fingertips… and how they lead the eye to her hip, left unblended. What you are looking at is not a flesh and blood woman, after all. You are looking at a fleeting impression.. as beautiful and indistinct as a memory of a long ago love.
